Practical guide: driving from Nice train station

Traffic and parking

Avenue Thiers (in front of Nice-Ville station) is a very busy road. Avoid driving through Nice city centre during rush hours (8am-9:30am, 5:30pm-7:30pm). The expressway (Pénétrante de l'Ariane, free) is much more efficient.

Starting point: Leaving Nice-Ville station, take the expressway (Pénétrante de l'Ariane) directly heading East or West depending on your destination. This way you avoid city centre traffic and quickly reach the A8.

Station information:

  • Nice-Ville Station: main station, TGV hub for Paris/Lyon/Marseille + all regional TER lines
  • Nice-Riquier Station: secondary east coast station, TER Monaco/Menton/Vintimille, less crowded
  • Total flexibility: delivery available at all 3 Nice stations depending on your train and preference

Regional roads80 km/h
Expressways110 km/h
Motorways130 km/h
Warning: Frequent speed cameras on the A8 and coastal roads. Speeding violations can result in fines from €68 to €1,500.
